Give Judicial Nominees an Up Or Down Vote

I decree that today is a "quotation day." Here's the content of an e-mail I received:

Today marks 4 years or 1,460 days since President George W. Bush first nominated Priscilla Owen to serve as a federal judge on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, which has been designated a "judicial emergency." The majority of Senators support Judge Owen, but Democrats are refusing to give her a fair up-or-down vote on the Senate floor. Click here to sign the petition telling Democrats to give Judge Owen an up-or-down vote.
Democrats, led by Minority Leader Harry Reid, are even threatening to shut down the Senate if Judge Owen is given the fair up-or-down vote she deserves.
Judge Owen unanimously received the American Bar Association's highest possible rating, "well qualified." She has served on the Texas Supreme Court since 1994 and was endorsed for reelection by every major newspaper in the state.
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has offered Senator Reid a compromise that would give Democrats 100 hours to debate each judge and then guarantee each judge a floor vote, but he continues to reject this common-sense offer.
