FaceAnalyzer

7 August 2005

Somehow I was surfing a French blog a few months ago and I discovered a link to the FaceAnalyzer. The concept is fairly basic: You upload a picture of yourself, and the site analyzes it and immediately returns ratings for various traits, such as Intelligence, Sociability, and even Gay Factor.

The site also matches you up with a celebrity. I was matched with Vince Vaughn, which is a decent match, I suppose.

The results are displayed here, as well as on my newly launched page titled "My Personality Page." There, I have plenty of information about myself, all via sites like this. Check it out for more info.

Area Score Rating
Intelligence  6.4 Average Intelligence
Risk  5.4 Average Risk
Ambition  5.9 Average Ambition
Gay Factor  1.5 Very Low Gay Factor
Honor  5.2 Average Honor
Politeness  5.2 Average Politeness

Guess Which Movie

17 July 2005

Sunday's site this week is Guess Which Movie.

Guess Which Movie shows you four or so frames from a movie and allows you to — you guessed it — guess which movie the frames were taken from. It's multiple choice, but don't get too excited. If you're like me you love multiple choice . . . until you find out that you have twenty choices!

Some are quite easy, but most are fairly difficult. If the movie is Forrest Gump, you're not going to get a picture of Forrest Gump sitting on that bench with the chocolates on his lap. You're going to get a frame looking over his shoulder as he speaks to the crowd in Washington D.C. or a picture of the television with Elvis dancing on it.

There's also a lot of "Which of these war movies did I see that helicopter in?" and a whole lot of "Did I even see the movie this was taken from? Should I just choose one of the movies I didn't see?" But, to be fair, there are also a whole lot of "I know this animated scene wasn't in Rambo or Die Hard." Perhaps my description doesn't do it justice, but it really is great fun, especially for movie buffs.

I highly suggest you register first so you don't have to worry about going through the list again.

Meme: My Linguistic Profile

27 June 2005

Woe is me! I've given in to the meme craze! Will you ever forgive me?

I guess I'll have to accept this phenomenon and set some rules for myself. Oh well, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Your Linguistic Profile:

70% General American English
15% Upper Midwestern
15% Yankee
0% Dixie
0% Midwestern
What Kind of American English Do You Speak?

Well, there it is, out on the table. Will you still respect me?

Perhaps the more television you watch, the greater your GAE score becomes. I'm sure there are plenty who would disagree, and I'm sure they are correct.

80s Lyrics Quiz

21 June 2005

I didn't want my MTVI didn't want my MTV

I am simply horrible with lyrics. When I can't hear the music, I'm even worse. When the lyrics are from the 80s, I'm even worse yet, considering I didn't start listening to pop music regularly until 1990.

Nonetheless, it was a fun little quiz. I enjoyed it, but I really kind of skimmed through it quickly, which pushed my score down even lower. But I'm not making excuses, because I'm horrible with lyrics.

According to the results, I didn't want my MTV bad enough. I scored a measley 32.5 . . . I'm sure you will do better. If you want a mild challenge, try and double my score for 65.

Take the test now, and no cheating! If you cheat, I'll stop the world and melt with you! Or maybe I'll whip it good.

PS: Don't bother trying to find anything else on yetanotherdot.com, as you'll be in for a surprise if you do.

Christians: The Denominator

18 June 2005

Apparently, there is a theology quiz meme that is running rampant across religious blogs and irking Joe Carter over at the evangelical outpost. Carter says that "making such precise distinctions between theological camps requires more than just stock photos, non-descript questions, and a few lines of HTML," so he decided to come up with his own method of allowing yourself to be pigeonholed.

So, open up the Christians: The Denominator flowchart. If you have spent a significant amount of time in Christian religious circles, you will likely find the entertaining or annoying.

Everyone and their brother seems to want to comment to his post and make sure that it gets updated so that they are categorized correctly by the flowchart. That may be the joke within the joke right there.

My Star Wars Personality

24 May 2005

This post has been re-posted at Random Fodder, Novac's personal blog.

I'm Count DookuI'm Count Dooku!

Liquid Generation has The Ultimate Star Wars Personality Test available for the taking.

As you can see, I turned out to be Count Dooku. Formerly good, now bad. But still, I'm Machiavellian, and I can use the Force to shoot lightning out of my hands!

That's odd. Most of my friends would have guessed Jar Jar!

Where Should I Live?

Joplin, MOJoplin, MO

I took a little online quiz a couple weeks ago that provides you with "a tailored list of America's best places to live that expertly fit your personal style and needs."

The site that gives these quizzes is FindYourSpot.com. After you answer various questions about your thoughts on climate, culture, education, recreation, lifestyle, religion, taxes, and geography. It then suggests 24 cities for you. You can click on your results to obtain further information about each city.

I know that you, the reader, are likely much less interested in which cities are on my list, and much more interested on heading to Find Your Spot and seeing what cities it offers you. Well, long story short, it's my blog, so here is my list:

  1. Joplin, MO
  2. Clarksville, TN
  3. Amarillo, TX
  4. Hampton, VA
  5. Abilene, TX
  6. Norfolk, VA
  7. Murray, KY
  8. Oklahoma City, OK
  9. Tulsa, OK
  10. Berea, KY
  11. Salisbury, NC
  12. Alpine, TX
  13. Greenville, NC
  14. Rocky Mount-Stony Creek, NC
  15. Louisville, KY
  16. Woodbury, TN
  17. Lynchburg, VA
  18. Knoxville, TN
  19. Durham, NC
  20. Hickory, NC
  21. Enid, OK
  22. Nashville, TN
  23. Lubbock, TX
  24. Bowling Green, KY

When i specified a preference to live in the northeastern U.S., I received the following results. Keep in mind that the preference does not rule out cities outside of that region, but it does bump them down the list quite a ways. My top 9 cities still appeared in the list. Of course, even my first northeastern preference didn't make the original top 24, likely because I noted a preference for a mild climate with neither very hot summers nor cold, snowy winters. Cold, snowy winters are precisely what I have experienced every single winter of my life. Oh, and I also mentioned something about lower taxes, which rules out New York and most of the other liberal northeastern states.

  1. Easton, PA
  2. Harrisburg, PA
  3. Long Island, NY
  4. Joplin, MO
  5. Clarksville, TN
  6. Amarillo, TX
  7. Carlisle, PA
  8. Lancaster, PA
  9. Hampton, VA
  10. Syracuse, NY
  11. Jamestown, NY
  12. Augusta, ME
  13. Altoona, PA
  14. Philadelphia, PA
  15. Abilene, TX
  16. Norfolk, VA
  17. Murray, KY
  18. Manhattan, NY
  19. Johnstown, PA
  20. Carnegie, PA
  21. Oklahoma City, OK
  22. Albany, NY
  23. Tulsa, OK
  24. NYC, NY

So, that's me in a nutshell. Now go play outside.
