A&W Restaurants is celebrating National Float Day by giving away free root beer floats with any purchase on Monday, June 20! This is their second year doing this, and there's no minimum purchase . . . an order of their smallest fries would qualify. Just stop in between 14:00 and 20:00 to get yours!

I have loved A&W since I was a kid. Their food is American food. Stop in the days before this and pick up an "oversized flyer" with five coupons for additional savings.

On June 3rd, Krispy Kreme is giving away one free doughnut to every customer. Normally, when I am waiting in line at KK, I receive a free glazed doughnut, and it is good. On June 3, however, you can pick any doughnut you want. Perhaps I'll try standing in line, getting my free glazed doughnut, and then get my free other doughnut. And then, of course, we'll buy a dozen or two doughnuts, because that's how it works. Who says this won't help to boost business?

Could there be a sweeter day of the year? On Friday, June 3rd, Krispy Kreme will celebrate National Doughnut Day by offering customers a free doughnut of their choice in participating stores throughout the U.S.

Doughnut Day was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to raise much-needed funds during the Great Depression and to honor the work of World War I Salvation Army volunteers who prepared doughnuts for thousands of soldiers. Doughnut Day is celebrated annually on the first Friday in June, and special fundraising events continue today at Salvation Armies around the country.
