Weekly Features

21 June 2005

I hereby officially announce the beginning of my Weekly Features.

Here is the proposed schedule for the Weekly Features:

  • Sunday's Site – Despite the fact that I link to sites on a regular basis throughout the week, I will try and save some of the better ones for Sunday. If you wanted me to have a "Site of the Week" sort of feature, consider this it.
  • Movie Monday – On Mondays I will attempt to highlight a movie that will released that week either in the theatre or on DVD.
  • Trailer Tuesday – Movie trailers (and not mobile homes) are the topic on Tuesdays. This is a tough one, because I could easily post several a week without running out of these.
  • Video Vednesday – On Wed–I mean Ved–nesdays, I will post a link to a video. Always a treat. This "video" could be a generic video file, a flash movie, or anything else with moving pictures.
  • Thilly Thursday – Thursday is the thilliest day of the week. I'll plan for a joke each week. Also, I find it more entertaining to actually say "Thilly Thursday" out loud instead of just reading it. Go ahead, don't be shy.
  • Foto Friday – On Fridays, I will post some sort of a picture or image. Most likely, I will usually go with something humorous, but there are some interesting photographs out there that have caught my eye lately.
  • Saturday's Simpleton – I will attempt to find someone who qualifies as a sort of "Moron of the Week." This may come in the form of a video, news article, or whatever.

Hopefully, I will be able to keep up as far as content is concerned. I really have no problem finding good movies, trailers, etc., but I don't know how well I will do on a schedule. I am, after all, a procrastinator. I'll write about that in more detail, some day.

Video of the Week: Be Prepared!

16 June 2005

This is a half a year late, but I found a flash animation that has Nader singing "Be Prepared" from The Lion King.

It's good times.

Movie of the Week: Batman Begins

15 June 2005

Batman BeginsBatman Begins

Title: Batman Begins
Opens in wide release: June 15.
Actors of consequence: Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Scientologist Katie Holmes, Gary Oldman, Tom Wilkinson, Morgan Freeman, Chris Nolan (Director)
Plot/Summary: Batman jumps on the "prequel" bandwagon.
Trailer: One, Two, Three

Thoughts: I'm looking for Michael Caine to blow me away as The. Best. Alfred. Ever. . . . and perhaps a straight one at that, but don't count on it. Since they use a different actor every time, I don't really see the significance of a prequel, except they get to cast a "younger" actor. As far as that's concerned, Bale is 31 years old. Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and George Clooney were also in their 30s when they first played Batman, albeit in their mid- to late-30s. Chris Nolan of Memento fame directs, which should hopefully bring some interesting choices from the director's chair. This is the aspect of the movie I'm truly looking foward to. I think perhaps that the Batman producers wanted to show us the humanness of Batman and get that story in there. Did I just say that? What I meant was that I think they wanted to capitalize on the humanness of Batman because it worked so well with Spider-Man. All in all, I expect them to make a huge deal out of Bruce putting his belt on for the first time, and perhaps the mask as well . . . and they should.
