Foto Friday: Testicular Self-Examination

23 June 2006

This week's Foto Friday brings us a scan from a brochure I found when in the urologist's office. I quickly realized that a urologist's office is a wonderful place to pick up some fairly interesting brochures.

This particular brochure is for testicular self-examination. The first disconcerting thing was the picture of the man who looks a bit too gleeful and pleased about his self-examination. Another oddity is that, despite the fact that the office was a modern building, the brochures seemed to be at least 20 years old.

Enjoying it?

Foto Friday: Crooked House

Crooked House?

DelsJourney.com has a great picture of a "slanted" house. I was searching for a similar structure I had once seen a picture of, but I couldn't find that particular location.

DelsJourney.com has additional humorous and interesting pictures posted taken from New Zealand, Australia, and the U.S.

Of course, this is an optical illusion. An expensive optical illusion. Of course, the problem with this house is that a lousy telephone pole stands in front, ruining the effect. Additionally, the fence in the yard was not built with the illusion in mind. If you can't figure it out after staring at the original picture, take a look at an altered picture that might help you out.

Foto Friday: Rooftop Tennis

Tennis, anyone?

When I first received these awesome rooftop tennis pictures in an e-mail, I thought they looked amazingly cool . . . and amazingly fake. Much to my surprise, however, I found out that these pictures are authentic!

The Burj Al Arab hotel invited Andre Agassi and Roger Federer to come play some friendly games of tennis on their grass ::wikipedia("cantilever", "cantilevered"):: helipad.

Despite my reluctance to believe the photos, my trusted resources at snopes.com confirm this to be real. I'm horribly impressed. It's the world's highest tennis court.

Of course, when I was in my college tennis court, we would always get upset when the ball flew out of the court area and over the fencing. (This explains why I prefer racquetball!) Just imagine the time to retrieve your ball from this court!

Foto Friday: Join the Dark Side

24 March 2006

This week's picture is a fun little forum picture that has been passed around.

With membership numbers decreasing due to the bad publicity in the Star Wars movies, it seems that the Dark Side has a new marketing strategy. Now, it seems that they are attempting to foster a more positive image amongst preschool children.

An innocent marketing strategy, or preying on the youth of this country? You decide.

Foto Friday: Blonde Geometry

Find x

This week's picture comes from EatLiver.com, though I originally noticed it in someone's MySpace comments.

This joke falls into the "I wish I had thought of that" category.

Of course, one has to wonder why geometry texts frequently use the phrase "Find x" when they really want to say "Find out what x is equal to." I suppose it's for brevity.

Foto Friday: Fluffy the Destroyer

Fluffy the Destroyer

Here's a quick post for Foto Friday. This is Fluffy. He is the Destroyer of Worlds. This has long since been one of my favorite pictures that travels the web.

Not only does he appeal to me and the "Animals will one day rule the universe, as soon as they develop opposable thumbs" groups out there, but it also appeals to the animal lovers, as they deem this ruthless dictator to be "cute."

That's exactly what Fluffy wants you to believe . . . until he orders your head chopped off in the presence of your loved ones.

Of course, while we're on this subject (again), allow me to direct you to read the lyrics of Ookla the Mok's "Animal Uprising."

Oh, and while we're on this other topic, allow me to direct you to read the lyrics of Dan Bern's "Opposable Thumb."

Foto Friday: Lindsay Lohan for Tic Tac

20 January 2006

The 1½ Calorie Breath Mint

Lindsay Lohan says "Tic Tacs: They're not just for breakfast any more!"

I discovered this fake advertisement long before Lindsay Lohan admitted that she struggled with bulimia, but well after everyone already knew it.

Now that Lohan has admitted her bulimia, this joke has sort of become poor taste, so that's why I'm posting it.

While researching for this post, I discovered that Tic Tac is brought to us by Italian company Ferrero, the same company that makes Ferrero Rocher, Nutella, and Kinder Eggs!
